My thirsty Heart

I love you Lord, it is my joy to worship
To spend some time alone with you each day,
I'm thankful for the comfort of your Spirit
And for your Word that guides me on my way.
But in my heart there rises up a longing
To thirst and drink more deeply than I do
To spend my time with more determination
To meet the need, the need to fill myself with you.

I know too well that life will be demanding,
The pace so fast and I so faint and weak,
My thirsty soul in need of your refreshing
Recalls your promise made to those who seek.
Increase my thirst to drink those springs of water
My longing for you more than I can bear
Until I reach the Source of Living water
And oh so deeply, deeply drink from Jesus there.
