My Story is not Finished

by Dave Mudford © 2020

Often my heart is troubled by my fear,
With my failures weighing heavy, always near;
Desiring to be different, to the person that I am,
Makes me wonder sometimes, if my life is just a sham;
Then I stop and realize, I can let go of regret,
For God is saying; "I am not finished with you yet!"

Often my vision is on what I can achieve,
Living only in my strength, makes His Spirit grieve;
Desiring to be different, by living by His power,
Not living in the future, but in the present hour;
When I stop and realize, I need to not forget,
God's promise that He is not finished with me yet!

Often, I miss the meaning and the beauty,
Following my precious Saviour as my legal duty;
Desiring to be different, so that I can impress,
Wanting to hide the fragile, disguising all my mess;
Never I stop and realize, that grace defeats all the threat,
For I am safe just knowing, He is not finished with me yet!

Often in my story I don't know where I'm heading,
But secure in His love, my fears I should be shedding;
Desiring to be different, letting Him guide my days,
With my focus on His glory, my heart full of praise;
Now I stop and realize, I am now part of a duet,
Singing with God a melody; "my story is not finished yet!"
