Child Like

by Dave Mudford © 2022

Laughter seen in babies' eyes,
Nothing hidden in their lies;
Tears erupt highlighting missing needs,
Dependent on others for their feeds.

Beauty discovered in every smile,
Treasured memories for us to file;
Kicking legs to make a splash,
Winning hearts in just a flash.

Innocent joy found in the simple,
Cuteness expressed in every dimple;
Sharing moments and special tenderness;
Love experienced in all its fullness.

Adoration displayed in hugs given,
Reminding us; all can be forgiven;
Twinkling eyes filled with wonder,
Thoughts left for you to ponder.

Child-like devotion should be our calling,
Supported by grace despite our falling;
Dependent on love for our survival,
Resting secured in Christ's revival.

Mark 10:13-16 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.
