Painting in Color

by Dave Mudford © 2023

In despair; I am painting,
vigorously trying to cover over pain,
Trying to fill the gaps with my efforts,
blandness consuming hope, while strength begins to drain.

Painting in black and white
my world becomes quite grey,
Clinging fastly to my rights
hurting all that I survey;
strokes full of self and pride
strokes of my God denied,
strokes of guilt
paint is spilt,
Beauty of life has died!

In grace; God is painting,
compassionately delivering us from pain,
He fills the gap between us, caused by sin
creatively providing hope, all for my gain.

Painting in all shades of color
my world becomes quite bright,
Clinging fastly to His grace
healing pain with delight;
strokes full of love and vision
strokes that my God has given,
strokes He spreads
blood is shed,
Beauty of life has risen!
