Memory

Our memory is a good thing
That helps us to live well,
Reminding us of where we've been
With stories we can tell.

Decisions come more easily
Based on experience.
When we remember our mistakes,
New choices make more sense.

Our memory creates new thoughts,
Inventions are inspired.
Reviewing old, outdated ways,
New paths can be acquired.

Some of our memories do hurt.
We'd just as well forget.
But they don't seem to go away,
Causing us all to fret.

Sometimes our memory is sharp,
Sometimes it lets us down.
Retrieving information stored
Cannot always be found.

Some day when our memory fades
And we're forced to our knee,
There's one thing we can always know,
God's love for you and me.

The good news is that God loves us
And he will not forget,
To care for us with all our needs.
We all are in his debt.
