What do we feed upon and what's our heart's desire?
We eat to live, but live to eat would we require
For constant streams of luxuries to feed the soul
Supercars, holidays, or Michelin star casserole.
Perhaps our fame, or looks, or knowledge is the way
That feeds our ego, and leads us far, far astray
Until a wake-up call disrupts our sleep and will
Prevent our oneway march that only leads downhill.
There are so many altars that our hearts entice
But one great altar with a living Sacrifice
Is where we worship now; all others turn to dust
Christ is our food and drink; to Him our hearts entrust.
Feeding on Christ, the new, redeeming, living Bread
Sustains our souls, and we have risen from the dead
To live anew from Him, sustained by Him alone
He, who now sits triumphant on His Father's throne.
