Lover of My Heart

by Mikayla Pinder

How deep your obsession
with this speckle of sand
though the stars spin like snowflakes
in the palm of your hand!
The mountains fall prostrate
'neath the weight of your glance
in these eyes so enraptured
with the wee sparrows' dance.

Your voice birthed the heavens
Yes, Creation's pulse stirred
in explosive response
to the breath of your word.
You laugh at the thunder
and ride on the wind.
The waves bow before you,
yet call me your friend.

Who am I, oh mighty God,
that you listen to my prayers
and think of me with countless thoughts
and number all my hairs?
Holy Sovereign, King of heaven,
how beautiful thou art!
I'll sing your praise forevermore,
sweet lover my heart!
