LOST SOUL

by Kristine Stanton © 2026

A tear-stained face reveals a soul
whose world is black and white.
No other colors do exist
or come into her sight.

She grieves, she cries in a lost world;
she's witnessed far too much.
Her eyes are dark; unwavering —
she feels so out-of-touch.

So many thoughts race through her mind
and keep her ever bound.
They gnaw at her and shout her name,
although they make no sound.

Her lips are sealed; she speaks no words,
afraid of what might be.
She lives in fear from day to day
from visions her eyes see.

I pray the LORD will free her soul
from all that she's been through.
And that one day she'll see colors —
bright colors in her view.
