Reconciled

by George Chartier

A prayer is on my heart today,
As I take up the fight,
Lord turn my wicked heart away,
And let me walk in light,
Remove the want of wickedness
That I find deep within,
For Lord I'd rather righteous be,
But yet I'm steeped in sin.

Oh God I cannot stop myself,
And crying leaves me sore,
For sin has crept into my heart,
That I let through the door,
Allow my wicked heart, dear Lord,
To cleanséd be right now,
Oh cleanse my wickedness my God,
While at thy feet I bow.

My darkened heart and blackened soul,
In filthy sin is steeped,
My God how can I then be found,
Within thy flock of sheep.
But Jesus Christ the Lord of all,
Doth hear my mournful cry,
For I have heard the Father's call,
And wrongful lusts deny.

My God does see me as his son,
Though I was steeped in sin,
And he my soul from sin has won,
And cleansed me from within.
My Lord has heard my prayers and now,
I am his lovéd child,
For God has heard my mournful prayer,
And now I'm reconciled.
