Where is the focus of our eyes?
What are the objects that we prize?
Is it our earthly view that shows?
That friends are often really foes.
To fool the 'wise.'
Often great men and women are
The subject of much praise, but far
From all the humdrum of our lives
And selfish adulation thrives
But miss the Star.
This Star that fills the eastern sky
A Star that many would deny
Our hearts elate and know it's Him!
All other stars are burning dim
And soon will die.
It's Him! Oh how we love that Man
The Star above all others can
Outshine by far each earthly light
Once worldly dull, now heavenly bright
Lighting His plan.
But there is mischief to be had
When stars in church and newest fad
Divert the eyes from looking up
The sideways look that spoils our cup
That drink is bad.
But now, on His blest substance fed
Break precious oil upon His Head
The only One for God or man
The sum and total of His Plan
Through Blood He shed.
It's only Him! To fix our gaze
The only Star to set our ways
His glory and His Light to find
Where all God's purposes have shined
Eternal blaze.
