An old man’s prayer

by Nathan Walter

Please forgive me Dear Lord,
for I have been known to complain.
Since my chosen path has me,
feeling a lot of aches and pains.
Yes, I'm paying the price,
for the work I have done.
And I moan and I groan,
with the rising of the sun.
I may be taking pain pills,
and using arthritis rubs.
But at least Lord I'm thankful,
that I haven't fallen in the tub.
Now I know there is more that I should do,
like walk every day and make time to exercise.
As this is part of what must happen,
if we are to live our best lives.
I should release my negative energy,
and fill my heart with reverent pride.
Because you created my body to be a temple,
a place for the Holy Spirit to reside.
I will try to be thankful for the blessings,
I have received from above.
And all that I do will be done,
With your Grace and Love.
So, Lord I promise to be,
the best that I can.
Please give me the guidance I need,
for living according to your plan.
Amen
