Wording of this Handout:
In the 1800's there was a man called Mackenzie, who made a habit of walking off with other people's sheep. He became very good at it, thanks to his dogs, and it was quite a while before he was caught.
Here is a clipping from an old newspaper. If you read it, you will see that a reward was being offered for Mackenzie of one hundred pounds. That would be theh same as many thousands of dollars today, which shows how important it was to the police to catch him.
Needless to say, Mackenzie was eventually caught, but it's funny how a man who was a theif has now become something of a hero. Perhaps crime does pay after all! (But then again, Mackenzie is dead now, so all his fame means nothing to him)
