Wording of this Handout:
About 64 years after Jesus went to heave, a new emperor, called Nero, took the throne and started to rule over Rome. He really hated Christians - in fact he wanted to kill them all.
during Nero's time a big fire started up in the city of Rome. It was really the Roman's fault because they built all their houses very close to each other, and they had a hopeless fire brigade.
when the fire was finally out, Nero blamed the Christians - which was really dumb because Christians care for people and the last thing they'd ever want do do is start fires or hurt people!
But Nero wa so keen to get rid of the Christians he grabbed as many as he could and tortured them. some he dressed in animals skins and threw them to the dogs, clothes he crucified. Some Christians were dressed in clothes which burned and set alight, so Nero had living torches to light his way as he drove his chariot around at night.
The Christians forgave Nero and many more people were keen to join the churches when the saw how different Christians were form the other people. Just like Jesus, the Christians loved their enemies, and took now revenge.
