Wording of this Handout:
(Base on a true story from North America)
Once there was a man who used to go for long walks, with his gun, up into the mountains. He did this because he had to find food, and bring it home to his family. He had a wife and one daughter to look after, both of who he loved dearly.
And he also had a wonderful, big dog, called Bruce.
One day, the man started to go on a hunting trip when his daughter came running after him.
"Please take me with you!" she cried.
"No" said her father, "You are too young. The journey would be too difficult for you."
The little girl pleaded with her father but he would not agree to to take her, so she sat down and watched as he walked away.
But as soon as he reached the top of the hill, the little girl started to follow. She planned to catch up with her father when he was a long way from home, so then he would be forced to take her the rest of the way.
On and on she walked, following her father, until the evening came, and the sun began to sink below the mountains. But now the little girl was too tired to catch up, and her legs were very tired.
"Dad! Dad!" she called, but he was too far away to hear her.
The little girl sat down and began to cry.
