For many years scientists have been trying to produce a new kind of fruit fly, but after many dozens of generations they still have fruit flies. Radiation and other kinds of mutation-causing methods have been tried, but the fruit flies are still fruit flies. Some of them are sterile, some die, and some have strange deformations, but no improvements have occurred.
