Kids Can Fly: Goose

informing.

Nikanda was his next victim. She told him, very confidentially, that Benjamin had brought cigarettes to school. And to prove it, she took Goose to the cloakroom and opened Benjamin's bag. Sure enough, in the small pocket, was a packet of cigarettes. You would have thought by now that Goose would have suspected something, but there you are - there's one born every minute.

"We'd better get out of here," she whispered, "In case he finds us here!"

"Yeah!" agreed Goose.

As he went towards the staff room, loaded down with this new pile of juicy information, he bumped into Elizabeth and Tamara. They swung away, as if they were hiding something, (which they were). Goose's sharp eyes followed the object in their hands.

"Don't look!" they said.

Goose looked. His eyes nearly popped out of his head with looking.

"Hey!" he said, "That's the money-box from the secretary's office!"

"No it isn't!" said the girls.

"I've seen it there! What have you got it for?"

"We haven't!"

"But I can see it. You've got it, haven't you. I'm going to tell!"

"Please don't!"

"I don't care!"

The girls ran away, leaving Goose free to walk down the concrete apron and up the steps towards the office.

Suddenly, Danelle swerved in front of him. She jumped through a classroom door and dropped something. The sound of smashing china rang loud and clear. Danelle slammed the door shut and yelled "Don't come in!"

"What was that?" asked Goose.

"Nothing!" shouted Danelle.

"I know what it was," said Benjamin, who was standing nearby, "That Japanese bowl, in the display case. Danlle's in trouble now!"
