Tangled Yarns: Sleepytime Freezers

them out again. Its too difficult."

"You're so right!" said Mr. Gromley, smiling confidently, "And its doubtful whether any of them will ever live again, but the Sleepytime Freezer is different. It uses a life-pulse, generated by gravitational forces, connected to radionic arches, which it channels through polarity switches and harmonics regulators through the contents of the Freezer, which reciprocates proportionately with the brain-waves of the user. Its really quite simple. The result is a perfectly preserved sleep for as long as you want."

"I'm still doubtful," said Mum apologetically.

"I'll tell you what," said Mr. Gromley, "How about a trial run for a week?"

"No charge?"

"No charge at all. Absolutely free."

"I suppose that's reasonable."

"And when the week is up, I'm sure you'll want to buy a Sleepytime Freezer, as so many other satisfied customers have."

The dog was tearing a cushion to shreds and bits of cloth floated down around the room. My little sister was squirting air-freshener everywhere and the cat was screeching as the baby pulled its tail.

Mr. Gromley stepped over the clutter of toys and clothes which lay strewn everywhere and stepped out the door. He nearly slipped on the pool of milk and weetbix which my other brother had spilled there at lunch time.

"I'll see you again next Saturday," said Mr. Gromley as the sun gleamed on his perfectly brushed teeth.

"Bye bye!" said the crowd of grubby, food-stained faces at the door.

The budgie slipped through a gap above their heads and disappeared over the neighbour's fence and the baby hauled itself up on the tablecloth and pulled everything off the table. Plastic plates bounced around the floor and cordial splashed against the wall

Mum closed the door and went back to her vacuuming, while Ralph's sister and two brothers climbed into the Freezer and pretended it was a car.

"Bmmm Bmmm!"

"Hey! Its not plugged in!"
