Tangled Yarns: Failures

"Did you say supreme ruler?" asked the president?

"Well of course!" said Zorble One, "Why does that surprise you? We arc obviously a superior race of beings, so naturally, we expect to be treated as such. Now, here are my plans..."

"Ever been to our moon?" said the president.

"Not lately," said all the Zorbelites together.

"I knew you shouldn't have said that stuff about 'supreme ruler'!" complained Zorble Two as he sat on the edge of a lunar crater, "It didn't seem very tactful!"

"A slip of the tongue," said Zorble One, "It won't happen next time."

"So what do we do now?" asked Zorble Three.

"Well," said Zorble One, "I think we ought to get our revenge somehow."

"But we're stranded on the moon!" moaned Zorble Four, "We can't do anything to the earthlings from here!"

"Oh yes we can!" said Zorble One, "We can make faces!"

And from then on, right up until today, the Zorbelites have been pulling rude and unpleasant faces on the moon, though until recently, nobody knew they were there because they did it on the wrong side of the moon, where it's always very dark. Sometimes they stand on the top of rocks and poke their tongues out, sometimes they stretch their faces with their fingers, but it makes very little difference because no-one ever sees them.

At this point the records regarding the invasion of Earth is lost, but another fragment was discovered in a computer file.

"In the year 4765. 4 a Zorbelite rescue mission crash-landed on the moon and ..."

(The rest of the document has been lost, but experts assume that the Zorbelites returned to their planet, or went somewhere else because no trace has ever been found of them).
