Kids Can Fly: Squeaky Clean

"They stink!" I said.

"Well I'm not going to stand for this any more!" shouted dad. He marched out of the room and slammed me door behind him. My sister and I looked at each other in the silence. Mum was still on TV outlining all the changes she intended to bring in ... no more plastic containers, no more artificial insecticides, no more toxic waste, no more nuclear power, no more detergents, no more ... and we heard Dad start the car and roar away down the road.

That afternoon, a new Party was formed. Dad put himself forward as the leader and was accepted unanimously. He led a crowd of thirty thousand people up the main street to Parliament Buildings and organised a rally, which lasted for two days. The Police watched the huge crowd doubtfully. They were under orders to dispel the protest but under the new Clean Party rules they were not allowed to use force, and besides they were out-numbered so heavily they decided the best course of action was to obey the law.

Mum came out and tried to address the crowd but she was shouted down. She retired back into the safety of the building and shut the doors.

My sister and I had to use our bicycles to get to the rally. It took us ages, because the streets weree blocked, but we got there. Dad was just about to deliver a speech. He looked really impressive, standing on the wooden platform, with the words 'Dirty Party' hanging in front of it.

"Its time for a change..." he shouted.

And the crowd cheered.
