Global Warming

by Kathleen Higham

The science of Your Scripture
Is perfect in its text
Yet we fail to face reality
When disaster comes we're perplexed.

We know the earth is warming
As we tend to our own desire
And You have warned us in Your Word
That this world will burn in fire.

And devastating loss is evident
It continues each and every day
Rivers and lakes are drying up
But You said it would happen that way.

Then we continue on our way
Not taking care of one another
And in the street lie many dead
They are supposed to be our brother.

We can ponder all the maps and charts
As brilliant scientists study this land
But we know the end of the story
It is Your out stretched hand.

For no one wants to say good-bye
To a world that has given us much
Even a Man nailed to a cross
In the end who might we touch.

Yes we need to tend to this warming
With a heart that burns hot as coal
Constantly seeking those who are lost
Reaching out to save one last soul.
