Where could our searching find a great love
Oh, where could ever it be?
Would it be found high in the blue
Or the deepest depths of the sea?
Farther we search, harder we look
Greater our longing to find
Would it be found at the rainbow's end?
Or perhaps where the stars are aligned?
Nothing we touch will turn to gold
Nothing is showing the way
Until we discover a tragic hill
And are glimpsing the light of day.
Only a glimpse, for the darkness of man
Will always be doing his worst
Nothing compares to that darkest deed
But our God will always speak first.
The very place of the deepest dark
Was the brightest that light could shine
Incredible love for you and for me
And the beauty of love divine.
All of God's glory was there to see
From the Cross and His dying breath
Greater by far was His love than the nails
And a love far stronger than death.
His great resurrection opens a world
Of that super-abounding love
Where His Way and his Truth line the road
And His Life everlasting above.
Oh, how can we fathom a love like this?
So awesome, inclusive and free
A glorious love that included us in
Where eternally we shall be.
