Two Peas in a Pod

by John Janzen © 2024

Two peas in a pod drawn nearer to God
As though it were His own intent
For us to conclude that our solitude
Together would better be spent

A glove and a hand will always demand
A close and a comfortable fit
There's no compromise, nor does it surprise
That you and I demonstrate it

These years but a few remind me anew
How blessed I have been by your side
Nor can I forget, my lack of regret
The day that I made you my bride

I'll dictate once more, how utterly sure
I am of your value to me
Aside from my Lord, you're the most adored
a person could possibly be

An image of might or eagle in flight
Majestic as it would appear
Must take a back seat, as they can't compete
With the one whom I call my dear

So why all this fuss? It ever was thus!
I strain to express how I feel
The pen's hollow tone forever is prone
To poorly present what is real

This love we have known, has flourished, has grown
And thrives in the garden of God
We honour Him first, He quenches our thirst
As two little peas in a pod
