Feet

Matching Jesus' lonely pathway
Is not ours to satisfy
For we first, may walk the broadway
And His Holy Name deny.

The feet of God were there imprinted
In the dusty desert sand
Something different here was hinted
God had visited their land.

Feet of Him would always follow
In His Father's perfect will
Ploughing every human furrow
Hungry human hearts to fill.

Matchless Grace would mark His going
Humble feet would tread the way
Path of lowliness was showing
Where man's haughty steps will stray.

If we follow in His footsteps
We will find another world
Leaving soon those earthly concepts
Flying high His flag unfurled.

Light will show His footprints leading
Up His rocky, stoney road
Hold His hand while He is treading
As He bears our heavy load.

Higher, better is the story
In His footsteps let us go
Knowing that His path of glory
Follows on from long ago.
