FROM THE DUNGEON-the Baptist's last testament
Salome dancing for everyone-
They would give her anything she'd want-
She doesn't know, she's falling right into their traps.
The king says, "Ask whatever you wish"-
"Bring me the head of the prophet on a dish".
And he will give her what she asks.
The queen's not taking any chances,
Filling up everyone's glasses-
Salome knows what she has to do.
Like them all she thinks there's nothing to it,
Even if she doesn't want to do it-
I'll be dead before the night is through.
I am a voice crying in the wilderness!
All the world loves its own winners-
We mock the saints and crown the sinners,
Laughing as the wind shakes the reed.
But Salome is loved by everyone,
While the Baptist lies in a dungeon,
Waiting for the sword to set him free.
Salome dancing in the moonlight,
Leading everyone to the left and right-
I'll be dead before the morning rises.
I accept my execution,
as my last resolution-
A prophet has no honor or surprises.
