Honoring Our Fallen Heroes

Every year on Memorial Day,
Many memories flood my heart
Of many friends and loved ones,
Who for America did their part.

I remember those fallen heroes,
Whose bodies lie in graves
Marked by a sea of crosses
Like rows of white-crested waves.

Men and women bravely fought
And made the ultimate sacrifice.
They gave their very lives.
For freedom, they paid this price.

I thank God for these heroes
As we set aside a special day
To pay them honor and tribute
For giving their lives this way.

It is nice to have a picnic.
It is nice to have some fun,
But thank God for our heroes
Before this special day is done.
