There Is A Frog In The Boat

by Kathleen Higham

Each year we come to Florida,
and frogs are everywhere.
Little green frogs with big brown eyes
hop about without a care.

I think frogs make a terrible mess.
I guess they are cute at best,
but my husband thinks they are special,
so with care he moves their nest.

Now yesterday we went fishing.
We traveled miles to get to the ocean.
We took our boat to a beautiful reef,
and it fills our hearts with emotion.

But, much to my surprise,
a frog had come along.
He hopped and hopped inside our boat,
and, I thought, if he hops out he's gone.

So my husband put that frog in our cooler,
but he took a giant leap.
Then into the ocean he went,
and it was really deep.

As I saw him swimming round and round,
he didn't know what to do.
So we put our net to the water,
and he jumped and stuck like glue.

I thought to myself, he must want to live,
and we will give him a hand.
So back in the cooler he went again,
until we reached the land.

Then hours later when our boat was docked,
I set the little frog free,
but my husband said, "No, I know this frog,
and he means something to me."

So we're off to search for that little frog,
and back to the dock we went.
And when we finally found him,
you'd think he was heaven sent.

At last we returned to our home,
and my husband took that frog.
He washed away the salty sea,
and placed him on a log.

Now if you wonder about the story,
and what the message might be,
it's much like God's people,
and the perils we fail to see.

But God comes along and rescues us,
and washes our souls clean.
It doesn't matter where we've been,
or what our eyes have seen.

Now this little frog has many friends,
and he is telling them a story.
A story of how he saw the ocean
and came to know God's Glory.

So the moral of the story is to listen.
Listen to what God has to say.
Then you can be like that little frog.
Cause the frog got saved that day.
