This Old Body

by Kathleen Higham

Our body is just a house
Carrying us from place to place
As we study and learn The Word
A shelter till we see His face

But living in this old body
Is not what God has planned
Even though we groan in pain
You must believe and understand

That God awaits us in Glory
With a body that's brand new
Perfect in His creation
Waiting patiently for you

God will heal us time and again
But we will not last forever
When this old body falls apart
We'll be swept up in His endeavor

For when it's time for us to die
Heaven's doors open on our arrival
After years of moaning and groaning
And struggling for earthly survival

At last we feel eternal peace
In a body that's spiritually clean
Impossible to even imagine this
A body where The Lord can be seen

Yes, we will surely die to the earth
But with joy beyond our comprehension
Rising up in a body so divine
We make our final ascension

So do not worry about growing old
Or a sickness that cannot be healed
And every sorrow or pain we have felt
Will be gone when Our Lord is revealed
