When Man Ate Angels' Food

by Margaret Cagle

In the wilderness the Israelites
Wandered for forty long years.
"Will we have food and water?"
Some murmured and had many fears.

God sent them heavenly manna
Likened to angels' food to eat.
Then when they complained more,
He even sent them some meat.

God doesn't send us angels' food.
He sends angels themselves to keep
A band of protection around us
While awake or when we sleep.

God may not send us quail meat
As He did in the days of old,
But He can give us our desires,
For in God's Word I am told.

God gives us spiritual food
When His holy Word we read.
He loads us down with benefits,
And He supplies our every need.
