Lift Me Higher

by Kathleen Higham

Some days I crave the night time
To lay down my weary head
And my body has become cumbersome
As I kneel beside my bed

Praising You for this precious life
Another child an image of You
But God I'm feeling tired again
And I have so so much to do

But yet I feel Your presence
As I am running in every direction
Tending to one job after another
Sensing an all encompassing protection

For You are blessing one more child
Unbelievably this one is number seven
A number so complete to You
As You smile down at me from Heaven

And I am feeling so amazed
As all my work gets done
How could I ever do anything
If not for the help of Your Son

Already I can see this child
As I lower myself to a chair
Little pokes then lively kicks
For this child has no care

But shockingly bright lights will come
As this child comes into the world
A newborn baby lies in my arms
Around my finger a tiny hand curled

Lord as I wait for the seventh child
My heart is filled with such a desire
It's Your love that has carried me here
Lifts me up lifts me higher and higher
