The Broken Traveler

by Linda Klopp

She was always walking empty.
She was always feeling lost.
She was always searching for happiness
No matter what the cost.

She often traveled through the dark
And cowered from the night.
She often traveled never feeling
The warmth of His great light.

Always cold and lonely
But always traveling on.
Burying the scars and pain so deep
She didn't care if her life was wrong.

She was always hurting her.
And always hurting me
Feeling oceans of pain
And drowning in the sea.

Again the saddening darkness fell.
She felt forever lost.
Until that lonely Traveler
Stumbled upon that glorious cross.

And at that wooden cross
She chose to lay down her sins.
She finally felt the hope and light
Begin to grow within.

Shedding tears of anguish.
Shedding tears of pain.
Jesus took her in his arms
And washed away the stain.

She often traveled through the dark
And cowered from the night.
She often traveled never feeling
The warmth of His great light.

But on that day of her salvation
Inside Jesus' warmth began to flow.
That Traveler finally understood
That only Jesus can heal a broken soul.

Now the Traveler is no longer empty.
The Traveler is no longer lost.
She found her hope and happiness
At the foot of Jesus' cross.

Isaiah 26:3

"You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
