Born Again

by Kathleen Higham

A pulling squeezing sensation
Something is not feeling right
A tormented cry comes to you
A harsh and brutal light

The quiet peaceful place is gone
Then a gasping quivering breath
A primal scream begins your life
A life that returns to death

The first birth is so traumatic
A pain filled journey indeed
But when the miracle is complete
Love meets your every need

And from that very moment
A life with God begins
And years pass by so quickly
But the first birth comes with sins

And this dangerous world around us
Is often burdened with grief
But born for us a sinless child
And He came to offer relief

He was born to die for us
A Savior for all men
But we must accept His Holiness
Then become born again

Alive in the spirit of Jesus Christ
Heaven waits behind death's door
Dying once born twice
Eternal life forevermore
