Role Model

by mike bullock
https://ploosh61.wordpress.com

I am no role model
A picnic, short of cake
But He still chose me as I am
He didn't want a fake
For something in my make up
Gave him a great idea
Although I'm proud and selfish
I speak, devoid of fear.

So polishing this diamond
That needed to be ground
He used the bones of what was there
Set free, the chains that bound
So do not try to alter
The person that you are
He will use you, warts and all
His grubby, damaged star.
