Tempting

by Kathleen Higham

I never pray for You to come
But Lord You know we're waiting
And when pain comes it's tempting
But too many hearts are still debating

How awesome to be lifted up
With no more heartache to endure
But so so many are still lost
It would be a tragedy for sure

I pray for You to touch them
Lord draw my loved ones near
If You will come inside their heart
Then I will be free of all this fear

There is no doubt You are coming
But I have no right to ask
Just because life hurts me
To escape my painful past

Even Christians can be selfish
When grief comes hard and fast
We cry out come get us now
It's much too hard a task

My Lord I am so very sorry
Let me do Your Will today
In everything You ask of me
I want to follow Your way

For when my heart is broken
That is when I serve You best
Every thought is You just You
It is such a crucial test

I never pray for You to come
Because I know You will
Tempting oh yes so tempting
And yet You love me still
