The Doctor's Hands

by Kathleen Higham

A commanding presence in her
And yet she is tiny and fair
A tentative smile in her eyes
You just have to love her hair

And even when you're anxious
She'll speak with such concern
You can tell her anything
And from her you will learn

I see hands so very gifted
They've been exquisitely designed
The beginning of life starts there
And in those hands I find

The best of life she touches first
Then waits to hear those cries
So familiar after all these years
And still I know she sighs

These hands embrace a little one
With a smile that will dazzle you
Laughter and joy mingled with tears
Her work God's work is through

It is hard to even imagine
But so so beautiful to me
No one comes this close to God
But in this woman I see

That life dances all around her
When she walks through that door
A Doctor a gift a treasure
Who could ask for anything more

Proverbs 31:29
Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.
