Behind The Mask

by Kathleen Higham

It's true that God created us
With another He entrusts our life
An extroidinary gift in her
When she picks up that knife

The unpredictable will happen
And God may have our soul
But a body that's been broken
This one will make whole

Claiming to be just a technician
But of this I am not sure
When life is coming to an end
There's fear and pain to endure

Her gift flows from her fingers
And with a stroke so bold
She will take a look inside
Skilled and completely controlled

A technician I think not
She is amazing in God's sight
A surgeon oh absolutely
Her gift is His delight

It may come catastrophically
Or she might be well aware
It really doesn't matter
For the gift the gift is there

It is my joy to know her
A technician no a friend
Caring about the life she saves
Another life that will not end

It's true that God created us
But this one behind the mask
A surgeon and protector of life
God gave her this awesome task
