Just Like That

by Kathleen Higham

Many many years have passed
Since her life came to an end
She was very special to me
My best my precious friend

I was shocked beyond belief
Such vibrant life in her
Simply gone just like that
It was impossible to endure

We almost talked the day before
But I was running here and there
Never dreamed I would lose her
My heart raged not fair not fair

My friend was so very young
Having everything that mattered
In a breath one single breath
We were all completely shattered

I had no faith no understanding
And yet God stayed close by
Even when the tears fell down
And I cried out why why

Now that I am much older
And possibly even wise
Death comes calling more often
And it is certainly no surprise

There is so much more for us
When you ask Him in your heart
The Lord will touch you change you
Give you a brand new start

We are heading down that road
Stepping over a bloody Cross
And my friend she waits for me
No pain no suffering no loss
