The Upper Room

by Kathleen Higham

I'm thinking of my little church
Yet so big in God's eyes
Because it is a giving church
No matter about its size

No wealthy people praying there
But they are rich inside
Helping each other constantly
As His Name is glorified

I never would have imagined
That so many are lifted up
Understanding what it means
Asking God to fill their cup

People depending on Him alone
As they live from day to day
If someone needy comes along
They will give it all away

Everyone is welcome in this church
There is no discrimination there
It doesn't matter who you are
When surrounded by those who care

There's not much money in the plate
But always enough to go around
God's Word taught with confidence
Its Doctrine is completely sound

I'm thinking of my little church
As love greets me in my seat
And that's what really matters
God will tell us when we meet

And every time we gather there
His voice we're sure to hear
My little church, The Upper Room
Where God is always near
