Remember

by Kathleen Higham

She can remember that moment
To her it was not long ago
Dreaming of the future before you
Amazing what Mom's seem to know

Everything that has come to pass
This woman has always directed
With a firmness, yet a kindness
You listened when she corrected

She can remember that moment
When the first tear came to fall
Protecting with a quiet strength
Oh, she can remember it all

Piercing eyes filled with wisdom
And they tenderly look to you
Forever sensing her presence
Gently teaching you what to do

She can remember that moment
For nothing will ever compare
Your success ran through her
And you have taken her there

Hearing her in your voice
Then seeing her in your smile
Feeling the love of a Mother
Reliving it for a little while

She can remember that moment
When you became her protector
She won't relinquish completely
Your Mom is the perfect director

On the day when you were born
She kissed you, then believed
She can remember that moment
A vision of all you've achieved
