My Shadow

Lord, You are my shadow
As we walk side by side
Always present in my life
From You I cannot hide

This all encompassing love
Lifts me when I'm low
I am surrounded completely
By my God, my shadow

But, I cannot touch You
Yet, I feel You touch me
And I am comforted by this
When Your shadow, I can see

And You are there beside me
When darkness takes the light
Protecting me, directing me
The shadow of the night

Even on a cloudy day
His shadow will be there
Just stop, and close your eyes
Then see it in a prayer

Lord, You are my shadow
This is true, I know
You will follow me forever
No matter where I go
