Thank You Jesus

by Kathleen Higham

Jesus, I am so sorry
For what I've done to You
How could You ever love me
Oh, thank you because You do

Thoughts that are misdirected
Having been completely lost
No more wallowing in my sin
Realizing Your pain, the cost

Jesus, I am so sorry
For the things I have done
Not inhaling Your precious Word
Forsaking the gift of Your Son

Dwelling in the love of self
A life bound up in pride
Where desires have consumed me
Ashamed, wanting to run and hide

Jesus, I am so sorry
My prayers failing to be true
Selfish and foolish is my heart
Forgetting for a moment about You

But, You have not forgotten me
An endless love remains still
Carries me through a painful trial
Remembering that cross, that hill

Jesus, I am so sorry
My heart cries out to You
Forgive, forgive, again, and again
Thank God, that is what You do
