I Shall Not be Idle

by Kathleen Higham

Though not one to be idle
It seems a burden to rest
This mind God has busied so
Then enormously, He blessed.

Though not one to be idle
Sometimes I wondered how
But God was my Counselor
And I shall not be idle now.

No, no, I shall not be idle
When all is said and done
Work is the essence of my soul
His peace lifts the rising sun.

Though not one to be idle
There were many seeds to sow
Knowledge breathed life in me
Having studied just to know.

Though not one to be idle
So I taught those I bore
To work hard, work hard!
Then work just a little more.

Though not one to be idle
Age does not diminish my zest
I am still on this journey
Maybe someday I will rest.

Still, I shall not be idle
When God calls my name
Oh, I shall not be idle!
For He taught me the same.

Dear ones, I shall not be idle
But if my heart should roam
Then I will run to Him, when
He comes to take me home.

Proverbs 31:27
"She looks well to the ways of her household, and eats not, the bread of idleness."
