I Decided

by Kathleen Higham

Looking back to troubled times
When life was tattered and torn
Oppressive and overwhelming
As despair uncovered the morn.

Each day brought perplexity
Decisions that had to be made
There was no one to turn too
I felt so helplessly betrayed.

No direction seemed feasible
And the battle raged within
Destruction became my mantra
I ran long and hard with my sin.

But mercifully came the prelude
Introducing this life to come
So out the door to face it I went
Began my true mission to run.

Not sure exactly how I decided
Running frantically from my loss
Until I ran with abandonment
And decided to run to the Cross.

No longer would I run away
For the path became quite clear
Run, run, run to the Father
There is nothing left to fear.

At last I had finally decided
On this most amazing day
I was running to my Savior
Never again would I run away.

Running to His arms open wide
With a contrite heart, I confided
Confessed and repented of my sin
Praise the day! Praise the day!
I decided…

Hebrews 12:1

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us."
