My Midnight Journey

by Janette Lueveen © 2008

One wintry night, with winds so bold,
I crawled into bed, to escape from the cold.
With grandma's quilt pulled up under my chin
And a feathery pillow, my journey begin.

From out of the night, a voice did entreat;
A voice that was strong, and yet so sweet.
Lift up your head and open your eyes,
Come! Follow me, into star lit skies.

Into the dark, I follow like a lamb,
All fears erased, with the touch of His hand.
And as we walked on the golden tiles
My chill was lost, in the warmth of His smiles.

Etched in the path, were all my deeds
Including the times, I spent on my knees.
Nothing escaped, not even a thought
But now came answers, so desperately sought

All secrets revealed, I felt my heart sink.
Yet He remained steady, not even a blink
Finally we reached, a path called today
But fog hovered there, obscuring the way.

I asked Him to show me, what fate lies ahead
To take away my fear, and all my dread
Then my heart was lifted, as He answered my plea
Faith is the answer, Faith is the key.
