Nisa's Miracle

by Kathleen Higham

Foamy waves lap the shore
Crystal waters briskly cold
Embraces my footprint, erases it
Then I see her, God behold.

A young woman stands before me
She is so full with child
Breathtakingly beautiful is she
With a smile, tenderly mild.

There was a glow around her
Her husband held her hand
This body bursting with new life
A shadow reflects from the sand.

Wanting so much to touch her
I spoke gently my request
Asking to take her picture
Unconsciously, her unborn caressed.

A graciousness would greet me
Of course, came her reply
Then a memory took me back
When the pregnant woman was I.

There is no grander miracle
That a woman births a man
The Savior to all came this way
Oh, the intricacy of God's plan.

I am breathless with the thought
His creation I am seeing
Soon to come into this world
A tiny, but exquisite little being.

Nisa, I shall pray for you
Until the day I die
When in heaven we met again
Women chosen, you and I.

To fill the earth with glory
Of this, what can compare?
In our body grows a life
Only God could place it there.

There is no grander miracle
These words come, "Life Be"
The Lord our God has spoke them
And in your child, dwells He.
