Why Do I Love You

by Kathleen Higham

Why do I love You Lord?
If not, in hell I'll burn
But when I love You fervently
Should Heaven be my concern?

Why do I love You Lord?
Is it Your wrath I fear?
Or, do I simply love You
Because You are so dear?

Why do I love You Lord?
And desire to hear Your voice
Is it beause You died for me?
That I have made this choice.

Why do I love You Lord?
Is my heart afraid of dying?
Maybe something You have said
Intellectually there is no denying.

Why do I love You Lord?
Can it be Your unselfish giving?
Am I filled with sorrow then?
For this wicked life I am living.

Why do I love You Lord?
What is it my eyes see?
Oh I love You, love You Lord
Why? Because You first loved me.
