Courage

by Deborah Bell © 2015

COURAGE

When you're facing a giant and feel so very small
He don't even flinch when you give it your all
You start to tremble as your heart starts to sink
Your fight and your vigor are gone in a blink

You feel yourself falling to hopeless despair
As sad as it seems...you don't even care
The struggle's too hard...there's no way you can win
You don't have the strength to go at it again

You feel so defeated...to give up seems right
Surrender to this overpowering plight
You tried and you failed...in more ways than one
Then all of a sudden...out comes the Son...

He pulls you back up and then helps you to stand
He picks up your sword and puts it in your hand
He gives you the reasons why you have to try
That life is too grand to just lay down and die

He tells you that fear is the giant to slay
Once that is done then the rest is just play
Square up your feet...pull your shoulders back
And tell your weak heart to get back on track

Courage is basically all that you need
To conquer the things that all seem to exceed
It comes from the Father who gives it out free
Then watch as your giants will flee...

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of
them: for the LORD thy God, He it is that doth go with thee;
He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Deuteronomy 31:6
