My Garden
copyright 2007 Danette Kettwich

My garden was once full of beauty, flourishing with fruit of every kind.
Then I left it unattended and it grew weeds after some time.

Some weeds had beautiful flowers, so I decided to let them stay,
But they started to choke out my trees, as soon as the flowers did fade.

Those weeds over took my garden and so quickly they seemed to grow,
They were so hard to get rid of and then too large to mow.

I must start taking time in my garden, and not ever leave it alone.
For when it was left unattended the fruit would no longer grow.

I started weeding my garden, pulled them out one by one.
If I want fruit here again, I must keep up until the work is done.

Lord, help me care for my garden, for without your constant bright Son,
The garden gets so out of control, the job could never be done.

I must continue to work daily in my garden, to keep it under control,
Never forgetting to look to God for help, for my garden to grow.
