I Confess

A moment of truth touches me
Penetrates my very soul
My motives I now question
And the desire of my goal.

I pray for pureness of heart
To be sincere, honest, and true
Search me oh God, search me
Let it always be about You.

For age has quelled my desire
Still, a sinful heart can rise
When Godliness fades, comes the liar.

I pray for pureness of heart
Wondering, have I really changed?
Am I walking with my Lord?
Or are my sins just rearranged?

I pray for pureness of heart
As I linger in a psalm
Psalm 51 flows through me
My soul cries for the healing balm.

A moment of truth touches me
I confess my deepest sorrow
My weakness comes every day
So I will confess again tomorrow.
