Jewel in the Crown of my King

by Patricia Joan Polhans

He was never a part of anyone's dream,
Not a soldier or farmer, nor any such thing!
He had very little that this world had to offer
Without wife or children, nor did he prosper.

Just a meager soul who was destined to die
Without hope or thought, nor reasons why.
Just a man with only one single purpose
Who led a life that others thought worthless.

As he passed from this life into God's hands
He became a part of the Master's plan.
Placed as a jewel in the crown of our King,
Humble and quiet as the angels sang.

God hewn out a place especially for him
Where he was viewed as a most valuable gem.
So precious, now, he is within God's sight,
Placed there, in love, on that dark night.

He 'came a shining stone with all of its' glimmer.
Above all others, more precious than silver.
He was placed there for all the world to see,
The beauty and splendor God intended him to be.

Now he sparkles and shines with all others' beauty,
The diamonds, the sapphires and the rubies.
No longer thought of as a useless thing
For he outshines all gems in the crown of our King!

Malachi 3:17
"They will be mine," says the Lord Almighty, "in the day when I make up my treasured possessions."

Zechariah 9:16-17
...they will sparkle in his land like jewels in a crown. How attractive and beautiful they will be...!
