The Triune God

by Kathleen Higham

We are nothing but a speck
This world is a sorry lot
What Jesus did was unthinkable
Our selfish souls He bought.

The Father, a wonderous being
In His heart immeasurable loss
Never thinking of what He felt
For He too shared the Cross.

And what of the Holy Spirit?
Permeating each breath taken
The Three felt unimaginable despair
The dread of being forsaken.

Jesus is the one true way
The nails were not in vain
The Triune God all loving
Not one was spared the pain.

Never meant to be separated
A soul quivers with expectation
So perfectly and simply Divine
An intellectual, a spiritual revelation.

We are nothing but a speck
And yet the Three draw near
This all encompassing presence
The thoughts of God we hear.

Succumbing to indescribable joy
When knees touch to the ground
The melodious voice of the Truine God
When at last we are Heaven bound.
